About This Program

History of the Program

  • In 2018 the Borough of Naugatuck began working with Savoy Investigations to locate and identify vehicles primarily housed in the Borough but bearing out of state license plates.
  • This program was created to identify and add vehicles to Naugatuck's Grand List, ensuring all residents were paying an equal share of personal property taxes.

How it Works

  • Cars with out of state license plates are photographed in the Borough throughout the year
  • After multiple captures, the vehicle information is sent to the Naugatuck Assessor, who then sends a notice of Assessment to the vehicle owner
  • After the vehicle is added to the Grand List, the vehicle owner will receive a tax bill from the Borough of Naugatuck Tax Collector
